Gas Plant

Overview

In 1998 when there was an acute shortage of cooking gas, Consumerfed commenced cooking gas distribution at the instance of the Government of Kerala. In the initial days, Consumerfed worked with two agencies, Sreeshakti plant in Andhra Pradesh and Coldy Company in Palakkad, that were already involved in cooking gas distribution to ensure sufficient supply. Later, Consumerfed set up a bottling plant in the Palakkad district and started distributing cooking gas under the brand name Neethi Gas. Neethi Gas cylinders of 12 kg for domestic use are made available to the public through Triveni stores and other co-operative establishments.

Currently, a new gas connection can be taken from the respective regional offices by submitting an application in the prescribed format along with an ID proof, a deposit of INR 2000, and a cylinder filling charge. The connection can be canceled at any time, but to get the deposit amount, the connection should complete a period of 3 years.
